Well three days later and we’re still surviving. Here are some notes on what has gone on since the game and what to look for in Buckeyeland the next few weeks:

  • JimTressel, Jim Bollman, and Nick Siciliano made an in-home visit to Tahj Boyd just two days after the Fiesta Bowl. They visited Phoebus High School in Hampto, Virginia, and spent almost two hours at the Boyd household. We also found out through this visit that Tahj will not be visiting Clemson, as previously reported. He missed too much school work while in San Antonio and will now decide between Oregon and Ohio State. Clearly the decision to visit Clemson was an “in the moment” feeling, as good friend Bryce McNeal committed there Saturday and Clemson commits were in his ear all weekend. This is great news for the Bucks, as I truly felt Clemson was a bigger threat than the Ducks. A decision is expected within the next few weeks and I have a good feeling about this one.
  • With winter quarter at OSU beginning this past Monday, it means the beginning of players who enroll early for the Class of 2009. The players that are believed to have decided to enroll this quarter are Zach Boren, Adam Homan, Jamie Wood, Jack Mewhort, and Storm Klein. More are said to be on the way for Spring Quarter.
  • The deadline to declare for the NFL Draft is a week from today, January 15. Some Buckeyes will have decisions to make, but the two that announcements that will be the most anticipated are Beanie Wells and Brian Hartline. Beanie had 16 carries for 106 yards in the Fiesta Bowl before a 3rd Quarter concussion, and was not happy with the way the game or his performance went. Brian Hartline was supposedly suspended for a few series in the game due to missing curfew on New Year’s Eve, but played most of the game. The problem for B-Hart was that he did not register a catch. That can’t help his stock. Other players considering the jump early to the NFL are Jake Ballard, Anderson Russell, Kurt Coleman, Jim Cordle, and Lawrence Wilson, among a few others. I do not expect any of these players to leave, but if I had to pick one or two I think could do it I would say Cordle and Russell.
  • Finally, The BCS National Championship Game is tonight between Florida and Oklahoma (8 P.M., FOX). At first I thought the Gators would rout the Sooners, but lately I have been getting a feeling that Oklahoma will show up for this one. Yes, I am the same person whose gut felt OSU would beat Texas 28-24 (and if Flash returned the kick for a TD that would have been the score!), but hey, I said it would be a good game either way. What are your feelings on tonight’s game and can any of you stand to watch Tim Tebow raise that trophy?
