It’s back! The mailbag’s June questions will finally be answered.
We all know Ohio State is the Big Ten’s favorite. Who is your dark horse? (Jared S., Madison, Wisc.)
Wisconsin, Penn State, and Illinois all have more than decent shots at dethroning the back-to-back-to-back Big Ten Champion Buckeyes. All three teams should be ranked within the Top 25 and will give any team a hard time. However, my dark horse is Michigan State as a dark horse is a team that seems to come out of nowhere. Coach Mark Dantonio has been improving that program drastically although he only took over last year. MSU ended last season 7-6 but is only on the up and up. Look for MSU to win at least 8 regular season games and improve their 3-5 big ten record to a competitive level.
How will OSU Basketball freshman fair this coming season? (Bob S., Columbus, OH)
The class of 2008 is rated amongst the top classes for this year. In fact, Rivals.com ranked it #5 overall. In the last mailbag, I talked about B.J. Mullens and where the last few Rivals #1’s have gone; so Mullens looks to be almost set. The rest of the freshman will be previewed by Alex in the next few weeks, so keep an eye out for those.
If OSU would lose another BCS National Championship this coming year, who will it be to? (GregWolverine, Toledo, OH)
I should have thrown this question out because the Buckeyes will not lose another championship. This is their year (knock on wood). If Michigan were to lose another bowl game, who will it be to? Ill answer that for you Greg: 2008 Motor City Bowl Kent State 24 Michigan 17

You are making the assumption that the Misheegoon Crapperines will be bowl eligible. Mr. GregWolverine from Toledo probably won’t have to worry about UM losing their bowl game this year because they may not be playing after their annual butt whipping at the hands of The Ohio State Buckeyes.
buckeyedude from Toledo, Ohio.
Michigan will go to a bowl game and that is actually realistic.
Michigan will go to a bowl game.
Ohio State didn’t go to a bowl game during their 99 season.
We have the longest current streak of bowl game appearances (33 seasons; 1975-present) and the longest current streak of non-losing seasons (40 seasons; 1968-present).
Don’t forget Michigan has the most wins (869) and highest winning percentage (.745) in NCAA Division I-A football history. Also the most winning seasons (110).
Most importantly Michigan has more championships(11) than Ohio State and leads the rivalary 57-41-6. OSU may have had success over Michigan this decade, but look out, we have a new coach who could suprise OSU this year, just like how Tressel upset Michigan in 2001. We will own OSU starting in the new decade.
Michigan has the better academic reputation and a better football team historically.
And to answer your last question, OSU will get smoked in another title game to an SEC team. (if they even make it there).
Were more superior on the football field and academically. Your journalism school isn’t even accredited. Be jealous of our football team and our school! Go Back to your small towns and farm chores fools!

GO BLUE 09
Always living in the past.
Your ever-falling academics are looking solid as well.
In ‘05, Michigan was ranked 28th in the U.S. and World News rankings and OSU 71st.
In ‘06, Michigan was ranked 34th and OSU 62nd.
In ‘07, Michigan was 40th and OSU was 58th.
In the new ‘08 rankings Michigan is 41st and OSU is 54th…what is to come big blue?
I will remain somewhat neutral, but the insult Michigan fans always use is “Our academics are so much better.” Usually, the majority of the fans have no relation to the school at all.
“We’ve won more championships.” Great Michigan, it won’t be much longer until we surpass you.
We’re enjoying the present more than you, guaranteed, and that’s what matters the most.
Michigan has a better journalism program than OSU (not accredited) and UM is tougher than OSU to get into. Not to mention, Michigan doesn’t take 2nd rate transfer students like OSU does.
You won’t surpass us in the rivalry, nor will you surpass us in championships.
You can enjoy your recent success, but that will end in the next few years and possibly this year. Michigan could suprise OSU this year, just like how Florida shocked OSU in the title game.
Michigan might surprise us like..oh say..an Appalachian State?
Face it blue…Michigan’s academics AND athletics are the worst they have ever been.
It’s depressing defending the Big Ten and the Greatest Rivarly when neither have been contested for years, and won’t be again this year. I am wasting my time even responding to you.
