***UPDATE: COREY ADAMS HAS COMMITTED TO ARIZONA STATE AND HAS BEEN TAKEN OFF THIS LIST!

With not too many spots left in the Class of 2009, OSU has targeted a handful of prospects to top of this terrific class, currently ranked #4 by ESPN. Here is an update of what is going on with the final targets left on OSU’s wish list:

  • Marcus Hall- Hall visited Michigan this past weekend and now states that the Wolverines have taken the lead for his services, with OSU second, and Miami (FL) third. The big offensive tackle from Cleveland Glenville has cut Illinois from his list, and will make one visit to “The U” on January 23, and most likely another one to Tennessee on January 30. Thought to be a Buckeye shoe-in for a while, Hall always scared me in terms of his wanting to start right off the bat. You can bet RR will give him that shot, while the line at OSU will be hard to crack as a freshman.
  • Marlon Brown- This 5-star WR from Memphis narrowed his list down to OSU, Georgia, Florida, Tennessee, and LSU, but now has added Ole Miss into the mix. The Rebels might get Brown’s final visit, and Houston Nutt’s staff could get a late steal. Brown is terrific and has the ability to heavily impact any offense as a freshman. He has a great relationship with TP and Tress, but will it be enough to lure him away from the SEC?
  • Frankie Telfort- This OLB/S hybrid player from southern Florida is a great athlete that recently narrowed his choices down to USC and Florida. The onn again off again recruiting from OSU has picked up of late and Telfort’s relationship with Jaamal Berry might have landed the Bucks a visit. Time will tell what happens with Telfort, but I have a feeling he’s a wild card for OSU.
  • Tahj Boyd- The USAAB co-MVP was said to be taking a visit to Clemson, but that seems to be scratched. He claims Oregon and Ohio State are his final two and will make a decision soon. He says Terrelle Pryor is not a factor, but I can’t believe that he doesn’t think it will be easier to win the job at Oregon. Boyd can go far away from home and live in Nike Land, or he can try to win National Championships in Columbus, and learn under TP. You choose Tahj.
  • Darren Myles- Another late bloomer on the radar, Myles is a 4-star safety who will most likely visit the Bucks on January 16. This Under Armour All-American is unlikely to land in this class, but would be a very good addition, due to his combination of athleticism and speed in the secondary.
  • Morgan Moses- Moses says OSU has been recruiting him all along, and is currently trying to get cleared for a visit. I think if the Bucks can get Hall, Moses goes elsewhere, but if Hall continues to play games, Moses’s recruitment will intensify very quickly

Predictions (edited 1/13/09)- I think the Buckeyes will end up with 2 of these 6 prospects in the end. I think Frankie Telfort and Tahj Boyd will end up in Columbus. Marcus Hall will go to Michigan or Miami, leaving a bad taste in Ted Ginn Sr.’s mouth (no matter what Hall says). I see Brown ending up at Tennessee, Myles going to Alabama, and Moses headed to UNC. While people may think I’m crazy for adding Telfort, I have just had a feeling since the beginning of his recruitment that we would shock people and end up with him in the end. Boyd will come to OSU with a chance to start as a red-shirt sophomore and lead the Bucks to a National Title after TP leaves. I think the Bucks can end up with a big wild card that’s not on this list or does not have an offer yet, surprising many (see: Mike Edwards).
