Doug Worthington, OSU’s starting defensive tackle, was arrested early Saturday morning and charged with driving under the influence. Worthington who is a 4th year junior, was pulled over for driving 41 mph in a 25 mph zone at 3:13 a.m. early Sunday morning at the corner of Woody Hayes Drive and Cannon Drive, which is directly in front of Ohio Stadium.

Worthington started the majority of the games during the 2007 season and was slated to be the starter again in 2008 but now his status is uncertain. He met with Jim Tressel on Sunday but the details of the meeting haven’t been released. This is DW’s first known offense and is subject to substance abuse counseling but he may face more discipline by Jim Tressel or OSU.

This comes shortly after another Buckeye, Eugene Clifford, was charged with assault following an incident in Cincinnati. Clifford was already in hot water after numerous issues including one big one this past spring. Eugene was released from the team and numerous reports have him Tennessee State bound.

Also, another Buckeye with the initials DW, is in the news when Jim Tressel confirmed during the Big Ten media days that Donald Washington still needs to work hard to “get the keys to the car back” after himself, Eugene, and Jamario O’Neal failed their drug tests. It looks like Washington will be suspended for the first two games.
