It’s Monday post-Superbowl and here are some notes for what took place during the weekend and what to look forward to this week:

  • Congratulations to Santonio Holmes on your Super Bowl MVP! 9 catches for 131 yards and a touchdown put Santonio on the national radar screen and gave OSU some street cred. Thanks for representing Buckeye Nation so well last night and once again, congratulations. Don’t party too hard!
  • Cleveland Glenville 5-Star OL, Marcus Hall, will be calling the coaches from Miami and OSU tonight and then let the media know where he will be attending college the next four years. Early word says Hall will end up at OSU, but you never know until it’s announced with some of these kids. Keep your fingers crossed as Hall is going to be a good one.
  • Marlon Brown, I hope you watched the Super Bowl last night. Take note of what Buckeye WR alumni can do and just think about how you can star in Scarlet and Gray for three years, jump to the pros, make some money, and win Super Bowls and Super Bowl MVP awards. Marlon please come to Columbus, we need you!
  • The Buckeye hoops squad now stands at 15-5 overall and 5-4 inside the conference. If the season ended today, the Bucks would finish 6th in the conference and play Indiana in the first round of the Big Ten tournament. The Bucks need to pick up the slack in the second half of conference play and it all starts with the games this week. OSU takes on Purdue at home on Tuesday (7 p.m., ESPN) in a Scarlet Fever game and then takes on Minnesota at home on Saturday (8 p.m.). This could be the biggest week of the Buckeyes’ season!
  • Finally, some other Big Ten News. Penn State upset Michigan State yesterday 72-68 in East Lansing to move to 17-5 (6-3) on the season. PSU has big wins over MSU, Purdue, and Georgia Tech on the season, and all five losses (URI, Temple, MSU, Wisconsin, Minnesota) have been against quality teams. Maybe it’s good OSU only plays the Lions once this year (home on Feb. 24). In other news that will make most Big Ten fans happy, Michigan’s Zack Novak was suspended for Saturday’s lost against Purdue for his elbow to PJ Hill last week. Serves you and your cheating team right Zack!
