The much anticipated wait is over, as Ohio State has reportedly received it’s 26th verbal commitment for the Class of 2009 in Cleveland Glenville OL Marcus Hall.
Hall committed to the Buckeyes over offers from Miami, Tennessee, Michigan, LSU, and Illinois among others. The 6′5″ 293-pound lineman informed his family of his decision this morning and then called the coaches of both Miami and Ohio State (his finalists) to inform them of his decision. He will let the media know at 1 p.m. and will sign his National Letter of Intent on Wednesday with all of his Glenville teammates.
Hall is a 5-star prospect on most recruiting services and was a U.S. Army All-American this season. Scout has him rated as the #5 offensive tackle in the nation, and when asked about his game, Hall said, “I run block well and I’m really aggressive. I’m athletic enough to move around and am pretty big. I watch a lot of film on myself and want to get off the ball faster and work on staying low. I do a lot of rubber band work and I think that’s helping.”
Hall can compete for playing time right away as OSU does not have much depth on the offensive line. Marcus joins Corey Linsley, Jack Mewhort, and Sam Longo in the 2009 offensive line class, and joins Jonathan Newsome as Glenville Tarblooders in this class. The Buckeyes now hav 26 verbal commitments and have room for one more. Marlon Brown is being targeted by the staff to take that last spot, but it will be tough for OSU to beat out home-town Tennessee and Georgia for his services. Stay tuned for more on recruiting this week as National Signing Day is Wednesday. Enjoy this news and have a good day. Go Bucks!
